Emv testing continues at Icup #6
May 26th, 2009 | Posted by Bart | Topic: NewsBefore any new product becomes “tried and true” it must first be used in a controlled enviroment and then progressively tested in more severe and challenging conditions . That’s what product testing is all about right? A prototype KTM Enduro motorcycle is driven around a test track, rallied on dirt roads and trails, abused in shorter events at full speed, before ultimately being trusted in the Baja 1000.

The same goes for cycling products. Bikes, tires, seats, shoes, and nutrition should all first be used on training rides of increasing intensity and duration before being trusted in progressively more challenging race situations.

Over the last few weeks Team Monavie-Cannondale has steadily been testing Monavie Energy (Emv). Emv has been used before, during, and after training rides of all lengths and intensities and before and after local races with very positive results. It was now time to use the product in an even more challenging situation, full bore racing!
Intermoutnain Cup #6 provided the perfect venue for testing as it was a local event with good competition, was relatively short(1.5hrs), and with mild weather conditions (low 70’s F).

Emv was placed in Monavie-Cannondale water bottles and used during the race. Although it is not designed or intended solely as race nutrition the team wants to be confident it can be used under the most strenuous conditions when a burst of energy is needed.
So what did the racing reveal? It works! Slow burning consistent energy without the “drop” associated with common energy drinks. At full effort it remains palatable, although in hotter racing situations may need to be used with water. The team has found it to be the ideal energy source directly before an event, and can be used during an event when super “energy” is needed!
Team Monavie-Cannondale riders Bart Gillespie and Alex Grant set a blistering pace to take 1st and 2nd overall in I Cup #6 while being fueled by Emv!

Next up will be a true test, a Baja 1000 of bike racing, the Mohican 100.
