Jeremiah checks in after Nationals…
July 23rd, 2009 | Posted by Bart | Topic: NewsSol Vista Colorado was the site for this weekends USA National Championships. At 8000-9000+ft I knew it would be tough.
Hot conditions and fierce racing where sure to be on tap. I knew I could be bit tired from last weeks 7 day Breck Epic blowout but I came in with an open mind and went for it!
Strange thing is that I had decent race comeback to 4th. After writing a check my ass couldn’t cash on the opening climb I crashed on the first dusty steep downhill on lap 1. Lap 2 I crashed 2 more times. I was off my game.
But I got an EMV from our team manager Matt and It seemed to hone my focus and allow me to find an incredible steady surge for the rest of the race. My last lap was my fastest!

Sunday’s short track I got the pleasure of riding the new Cannondale Flash hardtail mountain bike.
At 17 pounds for the size large, I felt like a kid with a fist full of dynamite.

Though It took a while for my diesel engine to warm up, the bike was snapping up the climb faster every lap! 7th was respectable considering rough first lap that put me in the teens.
This weekend may prove to be the great training blast I needed to step up to the plate big forIntermontain, Leadville, and the Marathon World Championships.
Should be an awesome stretch of racing.
I am in Boulder for now taking some down time and prepping for the next big stage race.
I will fly out Wednesday to meet up with my MonaVie-Cannondale teammate, the Deutschland Diesel (Ben Sonntag). We are going to do some recon of the Intermontain Challenge stages.
Game on this time.
